Laundering recommendations and care instructions for your fine linens

  • Machine wash in warm (not hot) water on gentle cycle. We recommend a detergent or soap with no additives; Ivory Liquid, Woolite, Dreft, All Free and Clear, or fine linen wash. Do not use chlorine bleach, stain removers or detergents with lighteners. Certain skin care products may lighten or discolor your linens, particularly acne medications and soaps. Avoid using fabric softeners, as these coat the fibers and make them “appear” to be soft. One cup of white vinegar in the rinse water removes all traces of soap and leaves fabrics smelling fresh.
  • The ideal way to dry textiles is air only. If you use a dryer, shake your linens as you take them out of the washer, and use the lowest setting on your dryer. Never dry completely. It is in the last few minutes of a dryer cycle that the fabric overheats and dries out, making them brittle and lifeless over time. Press on the underside, using a well-padded ironing board and a clean iron. Do not press in creases, as this will also cause wear over time.
  • Finally, simply fold them neatly. Never store sheeting in plastic. Storage should be dry and away from light with some air circulation.
  • Carefully remove all plastic tags before laundering, as they can catch and pull the loops on your terry towels.
